Winter Playlist 2015

December is my favorite month for so many reasons. Cold weather tops the chart from December specialties. It's the only time we get the chilly breezes and cozy sweater weather for real, which is basically the best thing evurrrr.
Just as I have my winter reads set up, a cool winter playlist was hard to miss. I have discovered some new songs lately that give the best winter vibes. Some of them are old & some of them are fresh releases.
1. Permanent December by Miley Cyrus
This song is from my ultimate favorite album Can't Be Tamed. It was released in 2010 and I've been listening to it ever since. 5 years (almost 6 now). As much as I regret most of my 13-year-old-self choices, this album wasn't one of them. Though I've loved and unloved this song many times in past, it always gets refreshed each year and comes out every December as freshly as it did back in 2010.

2. Lost and Found by Katie Herzig
I first listened to this song in the movie Family Weekend, I fell in love with the vocals. Then lyrics. Then the rest of the song, bit by bit. I consider it an empowering song. It might be cheating to add it to the winter playlist since it's in my EVERY playlist. But its melodies are kind of indie and has all the chilly vibes a winter song would need, so it's a hit for the winter playlist.

3. Ribs by Lorde
My twin sister is obsessed with Lorde. She played this song so much that I had to listen to it, too. I definitely don't regret it. This song has wonderful mystical rhythms.

4. Never Let You Go by Justin Bieber
Going back to 2010, this song is from that deluxe edition of Justin Bieber's album My World 2.0 I got on my birthday. I know I've felt embarrassed about owning this record, but what's gone is gone and Justin Bieber now has actual good music so I can be at peace about it. This song is oh-so-teenager, but the music has great beats and you'd feel like walking in a snow land if you concentrate on the sound for a little long.

5. Story of my life by One Direction
This song is so sentimental. The lyrics, the music, and the music video (I even recreated its scene for my room), undoubtedly one of the best hit from One Direction.

6. Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift
I recently listened to it and as usual, Swift's song didn't disappoint me. I was strolling outside in late evening while listening to this song and I realized how well it went with the current weather. I have this habit to match songs in my head to the current scenario. Its fine tunes and fierce lyrics fit well with the fading pink in the sky and the chilling breeze around me.

7. Infinity by One Direction
It's one of their latest songs from the album Made In The A.M. It's basically a sad song. The chorus is the best part of this song, to be honest. The vocals are on point. I love this lyric from this song so much:
"Eyes can't shine,
Unless there's something burning bright behind"

This is all I have been listening to, repeatedly. I'm going to make a more festive playlist for the new year and of course, for the start of a whole new chapter that's 2016. But for now, these songs are perfect for the current weather and cozy gatherings. Most of them have a sad touch, probably because it's something about winter. A sad, gloomy and melancholic aura come with it.

What are you listening to these days? Do you have some favorite winter songs, too? Share 'em.

  3. Ahhh, I actually don't like the winter too much cause it gets dark earlier and I'm a baby when it comes to the cold! I haven't heard of any of these songs (I live under a rock), because I mostly listen to my favorite albums on repeat rather than checking out new songs, hahaha.

  11. I really liked Wildest Dreams! The music video was nice to look at, from a purely superficial point, but I thought it was a bit odd that the only people in the video were Caucasians, as it was set in Africa during westward expansion.

I'm always on the lookout for new songs though, and I'll have to listen to your picks over the weekend!
