Goals For 2016

This past week was a whirlwind of family events, gatherings and lots of laughter shared with the people I adore the most. Many are yet to come before the year ends (how dramatic it is to remind myself that this year is finally ending. Eeep!). I hadn't set my goals for upcoming 2016 so far, so here we go!
Goals for 2016

I want to set some realistic (see also: grown up) goals as it will be my last year as a teenager. I will turn 19 in August '16 and college will end before that. It all calls for a more serious outlook on life. I am sure I am going to be that super dramatic almost-grown-up who's extra worried about her future, but I can't completely ignore it either. End of the rant.

Each year, I select a word for my year that will keep reminding me to do better. I am choosing "PROGRESS" for 2016. No matter what, I want to keep doing the right things without worrying whether it would work out or not. I learned that doing something is better than not doing it - if you never try, how do you know it could work out? I am glad I finally got the hold of it.

GOALS FOR 2016

// Be More Creative
I had always had an idea that I couldn't fit into the "art" type. Boy, was I wrong. I started my writing + creative journal a month ago with a lot of encouragement from my friends and my twin Areeba that led me to the easy side of art. I'm super enthusiastic to try more creative works in the upcoming year. You can see some of my art journal pages on my Instagram.

// Be Fearless
I want to try new things without any fear, like going to new places or meeting new people without holding myself back. It also includes speaking my mind without hesitation and standing up for whatever I consider right. I can't wait to make it happen, for real. Bye bye, comfort zone.

// More Travelling
2015 was the first year of actual travelling on my own. I want to do more travelling in 2016 - discover new places & take the roads less travelled. Yikes!

// Read A Good Deal of Books
Let's be real: I set a Goodreads challenge of 10 books for 2015 though I read quite more than that. I was just afraid I might not be able to finish a higher number of books (like 20 or 30), but I read nearly 30 books in 2015. So I am not afraid to set a higher goal in future. *grinning widely*
I want to discover new books and authors, too - as I have been reading all the mainstream/famous books & often miss some hidden gems, apparently.

// Better Time Management
It's something I have always been afraid of - time management. I would rather sleep in my free time then complete a task that's due. I always work hastily on the deadlines. It sounds funny, but when you have to go through the stress that comes with the "carelessness", it's nothing near to fun. Every advice from my elders has this "get hold of time" tips & I really want to be better with this.

// Ace The Final Year of College
My college will end in May. I'm both excited & terrified for the end of this final year. I am going to try my best - though it's going to be a lot harder than I can ever imagine.

// Take The Design Game Up
I have been designing blogs for a long time now. It's so fun meeting new people who want to prettify their sites and take their blogging seriously. This is why I want to give new directions to my work and try new design styles to innovate my designs. You can see my portfolio here to compare my work in past year.

// Write Better Content for Blog
I love blogging. It's my favorite hobby, progressive side and the biggest medium of connecting with the world. My social media, photography and almost everything are related to this little web space. I want to keep making it better. And better. And even more, better. With a lot of wonderful things coming my way, I want to be sure not to neglect it. I want to write better content for my blog, take cool photos and take the social media game up for the progress of my blog. Yes yes yes!

And most importantly, I want to make the best out of everything in 2016.

What are your goals for 2016?

  1. Super inspiring post! I really need to make a list of goals too, come to think of it, these are all awesome! I especially agree with being fearless and traveling more. I put off doing a lot of things this year because I was a bit scared, but life is so short. It was my first time traveling alone, too! Doesn't it give you a whole extra boost of courage and confidence? Hope you have an awesome New Year (if I don't catch up with you before then!) x

  7. I use to love making goals for the New Years, before I realized how often I failed at them. Hahaha. I think your goals are incredible though! I wish I could be more fearless in 2016, and take more risks <3

  11. I'm also a fan of choosing one word to focus on per year. Last year was the first time I did it, and I couldn't decide between three, so I took all three of them :P This coming year (2016), I've settled on one word, and actually it didn't take all that long for me. I knew it was what I wanted to focus on in 2016, and I'm excited to reveal it in a blog post soon ;P And unrelated but, wow I love the cover of Tape. -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's
